Yes, that's what Gayle King said on CBS This Morning (Aug 17th), after interviewing musician Andy Grammer, author of the hit song "Got to Keep Your Head Up". On the show, Andy Grammer spoke about his success and how it came about. He talked about the difficulties and struggles he was having in trying to reach that success.
One day after working the streets all day playing his music and trying to sell his CD's, the end of the day came and he had not sold any of his CD's. He was feeling discouraged but rather than give up, he gave himself a pep talk. As he left the streets that day, he said to himself, I 'm either going to go home and cry or I'm going to write a "jam" right now. His handling of the situation at that moment of discouragement with a decision to do something positive became the impetus for the song that changed his career and began his now very successful music career. Andy credits "Got to Keep Your Head Up" with changing his career.
His story is a reminder to us all that in times of discouragement, when we feel like giving up, and we feel at our lowest because things aren't going as we had hoped, then is the time to keep going. Push still harder even as difficult or impossible as it may seen. Even if no one is there to encourage us, we sometimes have to encourage ourselves just as Andy Grammer did and remember "Got to Keep Your Head Up".
